You can learn a lot from your children. I became a father for the first-time at the age of 47 with the birth of my daughter, Kat. She and my son, Christian, have taught me much about myself.  I have learned much about them. I have also learned that there is a lot that books on fatherhood cannot teach you.

Enter this book. Fatherhood in 60 Minutes or Less.  As the name implies, it’s a quick-hitting read requiring less than an hour for busy traditional and non-traditional new fathers of any age. It’s chalked full of humorous observations, rules of thumb and untold truths that parenting and fatherhood reference guides and books don’t mention.

One of my personal favorites is…

When you care for children, you have choices…work, sleep or hygiene…on most days you can pick any two.

Eight years in the making, this book offers practical wisdom, a working knowledge of fatherhood with lasting relevance and a dash of humor. If you are a mother, expectant mother, sister, aunt or grandma, this book is an ideal gift for the new father in your life.  To all father’s, it’s just a plain of old amusing read and good icebreaker for conversation amongst ourselves.
